The MONSTER two page spread thesis piece is finished! Hooray! Cinderella dancing with the Prince at the ball, being watched by the wicked stepmother and stepsisters, all of whom are wondering who the hell that girl is.

And again, since I know some of you will try to call a foul on me: the stepsisters aren't necessarily ugly and they're not always portrayed that way. Just because Disney made them ugly doesn't mean they always are. Think ice bitch and the one who goes with the flow so she doesn't get trampled by the ice bitch and the mother.

And on a side note: This is the first piece I've ever done that topped 1.8 GB in size before I flattened the layers.

Standard recap: My thesis is going to be a series of illustrations (single pages, spots and two page spreads) depicting my own version of Cinderella. The whole idea is an expansion of the "Cinderella My Way" [link] piece I did in class junior year. Just like last year, I'm using my character designs from the Broadway universe because 1) the story of Cinderella is special to them in the first place and 2) I knew using characters I care about would keep me interested in this project for an entire semester.

hehehehe! Sorry - I full viewed it and the first thing to catch my attention was the girl in green in the background, on the right by the door - she looks like she's doing the robot.

I think it's clear to see which sister is the ice bitch. :)

All of your thesis pictures are gorgeous and I love Cinderella's dress.

Geez... I don't even know. It took two weeks of pretty constant work for me to just render it. Inking it and drawing it were a completely different story, especially since I had to re-do Cinderella and the Prince's heads like three times. I want to say at least 70 hours, but that's probably grossly underestimated.

Nope, I used the same style. I think it's just that since the figures are much bigger than they normally are in my work, you see more detail.

I feel like a bitch for nitpicking like this, BUT... in ballroom dancing, the lead's right hand goes on the follow's upper back (bra strap area), and he can then use pressure to control her while they're dancing. Not that I'm suggesting you change that, and I doubt many people will notice, but I had to say. His left hand is also holding hers sort of strangely, but that's just stylistic, really. *shoots self for being critical*
ANYWAYS, I love your treatment of the stepsisters! Many of the traditional stories say things like "they were as beautiful as the day, but their hearts were as black as night," and way to kick D*sney in the shins!
Definite :+fav:, and I'll ignore the dancing frame :XD:

After probably over 100 hours of work on this, I'm choosing to ignore the nitpicks or else you might get strangled through your monitor. X\

And actually I did consider that when I was originally drawing this, but if I were to have them doing traditional modern ballroom waltzing, she'd look like a 2x4 and he'd look stiff as well with the posture they're suppsoed to hold. That's not the message I want to communicate; it's more the feeling of them being enthralled with each other.
