This one started out as a drawing taken from a photo of Ewan McGregor I have that I thought would make a cool "eye" pic for Inuyasha. Once I got the basic coloring down underneath my sketch layer, I started imitating the shading in the photo... and then when that was looking good, I decided to try making the sketch layer invisible. It looked decent and only needed to be cleaned up around the edges a little, so I went with it...
I'm still kind of taken aback. I didn't know I could do this. O.O
So of course this is going to lead to lots more experimentation.

Ooh, very, very nifty! ^___^ Yes, isn't it an amazing shock - like, "Oh my god, I can make things look.. reasonably real!!" I had that very same shock earlier this weekend. ^__~ Usually, either the smudge tool or the paintbrush tool on varying opacities is your friend in this instance. I loof doing realism now. So much fun. *Hugs you* Welcome to the world of wonders, where you can make you fantasies appear to become realities. >D
Anyway.
It's even more impressive that you've crafted a normally 2D character to fit the part of a full, beautifully done humanish face with volume, structure and a sense of general being to it! Yay! *Claps* Go you!
The thing I find most striking about this piece is the eyes, even though those are the most far removed from being realistic - they're very, very powerful. Which is the most important thing at all. Visually, eyes are keys to the soul - and gawd damn; Inu as done by you is tearing my soul apart with those eyes right this very moment. For that I applaud you. I adore artwork with strong emphasis upon the eyes. ^__^
All around great job! w007! ;3
HOLY MONKEY McJEBUS. O______O There is no possible way I can convey in words what this picture does to me...but suffice it to say that you SUCCEEDED. Utterly and completely. *can't push the favorite button fast enough*
I don't know where to even begin with this....... The tones alone make this an incredibly beautiful, nevermind the eyes and, well, hell, half naked InuYasha. I really love the details in the eyes, and the softness of the hair....even the arm hair. The dramatic lights are wonderful....okay...I'm gonna stop now before I start drooling just thinking about it....

This newsletter was "born" back in March 2007, from a conversation between ~Lareth and =FrozenStarRo, who with the help of their friends *Iardacil and =Sylwiaa , wanted to make something to promote known and unknown photomanipulators alike here on DeviantArt. As of September 2009 =ImaginaryRosse joined the project and will be helping us out with the weekly choices. While things have changed over time, the essence of the newsletter is still the same. As of recent, the talented =Behana has joined us in bringing you this weekly newsletter and we are excited to have her on board. This is a special feature, with a selection of 50 manips from the past year that we loved.

We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
