Back in March I mentioned in a journal entry that I had been hired by ARC Interactive to be the lead production artist on an education video game called Reading Rescue Force. It's online now, so I can finally post some of the work I did for it! These are the character designs.
The basis of the game is that you, the player, are a ship pilot in training at Zenith Command under the direction of Elltee. When you get your own ship, you pick up on a distress signal you don't understand and then have to decode what it means. In doing so the game teaches players how to read words of increasing difficultly, building up to constructing sentences.
The game is now up on MindZenith's website in testing phase to work out all the bugs. You can play it for free by going here (requires installation of Microsoft Silverlite), but it will only be free until the final release is ready. So if you're curious, you can pop over there and check it out.
